Direct Dr. Hayg Oshagan will again direct the ARS Eastern USA’s Summer Studies Institute at the University of Connecticut-Storrs. Dr. Oshagan was the Institute’s 2003 director and was reappointed by the ARS Eastern USA Board of Regional Directors after leading a successful program last year. The ARS Eastern USA Summer Studies Institute will be held from Sunday, June 5 to Saturday, June 23 at the University of Connecticut-Storrs campus. The Institute features a three-credit Armenian History course offered through the University of Connecticut and transferable to the student’s school. Weekend trips include a visit to New York City’s Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty and the Hairenik Building and ALMA Museum in Watertown, with a stop in Boston. The ARS Eastern USA Board of Regional Directors offers a $600 scholarship based on merit to two deserving Summer Studies attendees to cover the curriculum credit costs. Students must pay a $350 application fee which covers all non-credit courses; books; lunch, dinner and room and board; and the weekend trips. Many local ARS chapters are sponsoring a Summer Studies student and interested individuals may also contact their local ARS chapter for information about local sponsorship. Additional Summer Studies information can be obtained by visiting the ARS Eastern USA website located at www.arseastus.org and going to the “Summer Studies” page. The complete Summer Studies application package is also available there as well as special information for graduate students and photographs from Summer Studies Program.
